"Racing Lights"

I saw a picture of a guys Accord on the net with what he called "racing lights" installed in the rear. I thought it looked pretty cool. Then I read his instructions, he had wires all over the place, cutting and splicing here and there, switches and all kinds of stuff. I did not think it was worth the effort. Then I saw a civic in the city with a similar setup and I new that is what I wanted to try on my car. It looks very unique and I have not seen it on any other car. Basically racing lights are just parking and brake lights that are rearanged.

I think this should only be done if you have already painted your turn signals. If you have not, then I would not do this mod simply because you will have amber parking lights, really ugly!!! This mod took two minutes on my car('88 Accord).

Open your trunk. Take off the covers to access the brake lamp bulbs. There are two visable bulb harnesses, twist them both out of the brake housing. This is a good time to inspect the bulbs for replacment(hint: always replace lights in pairs). Put the bulb and harness from the bottom opening into the top opening and twist in. Put the other bulb and harness into the the other opening. Do this to the other side.

On my car they fit perfectly with no problem, though your car may be different. Basically what you have done is moved the turn signal to the bottom and the parking and brake light to the top. This really gives a unique look to the rear when ever you brake, have lights on, and use turn signals. The lights still serve their original purpose, they are just in a different place.
